

Born June 9, 1929 in Superior, Wisconsin to Fred Oscar and Agnes O. (Jacobson) Guenther, he married Carol Emily Sorensen on June 19, 1966 in Ellendale, Minnesota.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Gregg (Traci) Guenther of Pekin and Michael (Angela) Guenther of Grayslake; one daughter, Kristen (Scott) Adams of Chester, England; five grandchildren, Brendan, Abigail, Savannah, Nathan, and Graci; one sister, Lois Cassel of Plymouth, Minnesota; and several nieces.
His parents preceded him in death.
Bob was a 1947 graduate of Superior Central High School and graduated in 1952 from Wisconsin State College at Superior with a bachelors of Science degree in chemistry and physics.
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from February 20, 1952 to February 18, 1955. He attained the rank of Sergeant and had served in Germany.
Bob worked for 46 years in the chemical industry in various capacities, retiring from Sherex Chemical Company in Mapleton in 1991.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Bob enjoyed bicycling, swimming, traveling with his wife, and carpentry projects. He was a Green Bay Packers fan.
His memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Stephen Barnes will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
