

Born October 5, 1926 in Pekin to Arthur Fred and Marjorie Irene (Reardon) Vogelsang, he married Lois Jane Walbert on January 26, 1945 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Pamela (Dennis) Schrock of Pekin; one grandson, Brian Schrock of Pekin; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Darren) Smith of Washington; six great-grandchildren, Alison Bannister, Jacob Bannister, Zachary Schrock, Carson Schrock, Brandon Smith, and Charlie Smith; and one half-sister, Cheri (Ralph) Simpson of St. Louis, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy Ann Vogelsang on December 23, 1963; one half-brother, Art “Sonny” Vogelsang; one half-sister, Patricia Lane; and his step-father, Jules Osing, who helped raise him.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served from November 13, 1944 to May 6, 1946. He attained the rank of Seaman First Class.
Bob had worked at Corn Products Company in Pekin for 10 years. He later began a long-standing career as a realtor in Pekin. He had worked at Haas & Hodges Realtors, RCI, and later his own, Robert Vogelsang Realty. He also had worked as a real estate officer for Talman Federal Savings and Loan.
Bob had served as a Pekin City Commissioner, served on the Tazewell County Board, Tazewell County Resource Center Board, Tazewell County Zoning Board of Appeals, Tri-County Regional Planning Board, Pekin Board of Realtors, Pekin Youth Ranch Board, and had been a bailiff at the Tazewell County Court House. He also served on the Pekin Salvation Army Board for 14 years and the Volunteer Court Counselors for 10 years, serving as past president for both.
He was a member of the Pekin Bible Church.
Bob enjoyed flower gardening and had enjoyed building things in past years. He was a Chicago Cubs fan.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Pekin Bible Church. The Rev. Richard Jones will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be provided by the United States Navy.
