Ronald D Bickel

Born April 4, 1941 in Champaign to Ralph and Imogene (Thompson) Bickel, he married Janis Hughes on December 9, 1962 in Morton. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Chris (Joann) Bickel and Matt Bickel; one daughter, Julie Bickel, all of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Erika, Aaron, Sierra, Alyssa, Mariah, Allison, Chase and Hailey; one great-granddaughter, Lillyana and one brother, Richard (Cheryl) Bickel of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ronald attended Northwoods Community Church in Peoria.

He had worked for International Paper in Peoria, retiring in 1990 after 30 years.

Ronald was a former member of Valley Lakes Country Club. He enjoyed vacations, particularly traveling to South Haven, MI, being outdoors mowing his yard, fishing, hunting and water activities. He loved being with his children and grandchildren.

A service celebrating Ron’s life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.
