Rose Bearden

Born November 19, 1916 in Forest City, she was a daughter of Philip and Lulu Horn.

She married Robert Daniel "Bud" Bearden on July 13, 1935 in Chicago. He died March 12, 1960 in South Bend, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by 1 infant daughter, Catherine Bearden; 1 grandson; 1 great-grandson; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Jo (Doug) Sommer of Pekin and Elizabeth (Ronald) Weins of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; 3 sons, R. Philip Bearden and Daniel G. (Donna) Bearden, both of Pekin and Michael T. (Carole) Bearden of Manito; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Nada J. Ewing of American Canyon, California and Zelia C. Galloway of Pekin.

Rose worked for Pekin Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1982 as the assistant director of medical records.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was formerly a Sunday school teacher.

She had served on the Kickapoo Council of the Girl Scouts of America.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2006at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
