Ruth M Garman

Born October 14, 1922 in Salt Creek Township, Mason County to Albert L. and Hulda Henrietta Katherine (Dreyer) Courtright, she married Herbert Valentine Garman on December 9, 1945 in Pekin. He died October 7, 1999 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother (Billy A. Courtright).

Surviving are one daughter, Karen K. (Larry) Connett of Virginia, Illinois; one son, Keith L. (Debby) Garman of Manito; two grandchildren, Scott L. Connett of Pekin and Shelley M. Sweatman of Beardstown; two great-grandsons, Clancey J. "C.J." Sweatman and Chapin R. L. Sweatman, both of Beardstown; and her dog, Buck.

Ruth farmed with her husband and family in Cincinnati and Spring Lake Townships for many years. Previously, she worked at McLellan's in downtown Pekin from 1939 to 1945.

She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.

Ruth was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan and University of Illinois Illini basketball fan. She had bowled in several bowling leagues.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2006at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and also 30 minutes before the funeral on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
