

PEKIN ~ Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Norris, 73, of Pekin, passed away peacefully without pain in her sleep at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025 in hospice care at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Born October 3, 1951 in Pekin, she was the daughter of Jimmie “Jim” Everett and Glenna Jeanne (Bruns) Miner.
Surviving are one daughter, Rebecca (Mark) Johnson of Washington; one son, Andrew (Ashley Gardiner) Norris of East Peoria; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one brother, USN, LCDR (ret.) Steven (Tracie) Miner of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim; her mother, Jeanne Genens; her sister, Trudy Lee Steging and her grandparents, Florence and Harold Bruns.
A graduate of Pekin Community High School, Sandy worked in various administrative positions throughout her life with the last being 22 years as the manager of Court Place Apartments in Pekin, retiring in 2019.
A private person, only her family and a few select others knew of her extraordinary culinary skills and reaped the benefits – especially during the holidays. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching television and was especially fond of following professional tennis. Sandy’s biggest impact was her devotion and support of her family – babysitting, attending events, and sharing space in her home when needed. She was a fan of the Beatles and Gershwin. She also was fond of dogs.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Inurnment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
