

Born July 5, 1930 in Highland Park to Samuel J. and Agnes M. (Sullivan) Lane, she married Charles E. Conlin on December 25, 1953 in Bloomington. He died November 21, 2006 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles E. “Chuck” Conlin, Jr. on October 13, 2003 in Sycamore.
Surviving are four children, Marlene (Ernie) Simmons of Pine Bluff, AR, Dan Conlin of Peoria, Sue (Tom) Bagby of Marquette Heights and Tom (Robin) Conlin of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Mandy (Dean) Ruske, Shane (Sally) Conlin, Austin Simmons, Dawn (David) Francis, Josh Edwards, Holly Conlin and Hannah Conlin; four step-grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff) Linginfelter, Dustin (Kelli) Bagby, Molly (Nick) Summers and Mandy Vance; two great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Patricia (Ken) Conlin of McLean and Marlene Faulk of El Paso and two brothers, Samuel J. (Bev) Lane, Jr. of McLean and John W. (Terri) Lane of Okeechobee, FL.
Shirley worked as a phone operator out of high school in Highland Park and had worked at Rosewood Lanes in North Pekin. She also was a longtime waitress at Xanos’ Restaurant in Pekin.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing.
She was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
