Born February 14, 1947 in Herrin to Vernon Benjamin and Laura LaVee (Hodges) Thompson, she married Dennis Conroy July 24, 1965. He died August 23, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Thompson.
Surviving are two children, David (Kristen) Conroy of Naperville and Tamra (Matt) Kane of East Peoria; six grandchildren; one sister, Joyce (Joe) Craddock of Hurst; one sister-in-law, Elena Thompson of Herrin and her significant other, Frank Edwards of Pekin.
A homemaker, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved fishing, crafting and listening to country music.
The family would like to thank Frank for his incredible care during her illness.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no services.
