

Born February 7, 1930 in Springfield to Earl Edward and Bertha (Hathaway) Clemons, she married John Preston Dillon on June 7, 1969 in Springfield. He died November 30, 2005. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cynthia Kay Shivers on February 6, 2021; one stepdaughter, Mary Dillon; one granddaughter, Jackelyn Trotter and two brothers, Gerald Clemons and Robert Clemons.
Surviving are six grandchildren, Laura (David) Toel, Jennifer (Ryan) Marlatt, Brandy Smith, all of Pekin, John (Tara) Dillon of Springfield, Mathew Trotter of Mount Vernon, Jesi Jo (Mark) Oswiecimka of Baltimore, Maryland and Ben Trotter of Colorado and fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her son-in-law, Herb Shivers of Pekin; one stepson, James (Barb) Dillon of Jacksonville and two stepdaughters, Chris (Ellen Beeler) Dillon of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Debbi (John) Trotter of Mount Vernon.
Shirley was a Springfield resident until 2013 and retired from Mansion View Lodge there in 1980.
An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Shirley enjoyed wintering in Florida and attending spring training. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, camping and was fond of her cat, Hayley Marie Dillon.
She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
