

A lifelong resident of Pekin, she was born December 31, 1950 in Pekin to Stanley O. and Fannette M. (Traeger) Ripper. Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are two brothers; Lynn (Marlene) Ripper of Edwardsville and John (Marianne) Ripper of Indian Trail, NC; three nieces, Laura (Paul) Zeigler of Glen Carbon, Lisa Ripper of Edwardsville, and Jessica (Ernesto) Bustamante of Indian Trail, NC; one great-niece, Mariana Bustamante; and one great-nephew, Vicente Bustamante of Indian Trail, NC.
Susan will long be remembered for her love of family and friends, especially Christine Roloff, her longtime caregiver. She loved cruising, quilting, gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Her calling in life was to be a nurse, a profession she dearly loved, so that she could be of service to others.
Her nursing career spanned 37years at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Her certifications included RN, CCRN, CSC, CMC, CNRC and ACLS. She was forced to retire in 2011 due to her health.
Susan was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Per Susan’s wishes, cremation will be accorded following her funeral. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.
