

Born April 30, 1925 in Glasford to Henry Lee and Mary Arabelle (Jefford) Duffield, she married William Francis Pilgrim, Sr. on May 31, 1942, in Palmyra, Missouri. He died on November 30, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kenneth Duffield, Lawrence Duffield, and Charles Duffield; and one sister, Cora Irene Duhs.
Surviving are one son, William (Mary) Pilgrim, Jr. of Glasford; one daughter, Fonda (Melvin) Northrup of Glasford; five grandchildren, Aimee Miller of Livermore, California, Ryan Northrup of Glasford, Elicia (Tony) Snyder of Canton, Darin (Alyssa) Pilgrim of Glasford, and Derick (Heather) Pilgrim of Bartonville; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Ivan (Donna) Duffield of Glasford; and many nieces and nephews
A homemaker, Viola enjoyed camping and playing bingo and cards. She also enjoyed Bible study and cherished the time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Glasford United Methodist Church and the Glasford Senior Citizens Center.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Glasford United Methodist Church in Glasford. The Rev. Walter Wilkins and Rev. Tom Eckhardt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery in rural Glasford.
