He was born November 15, 1951 in Peoria to Virgil R. and Mary Elizabeth (Carnes) Taylor, Sr.
Surviving are his mother of Marquette Heights; one daughter, Samantha Collins of Low Point; two grandchildren and one sister, Rose Taylor of Marquette Heights. He also leaves several cousins.
His father preceded him in death.
Virgil was a mechanic for Carl & Nichols Shell Station in Pekin from August 10, 1994. He last worked at Carl & Nichols on June 12th. He previously had worked for the Hight & Luster Station in North Pekin.
Along with enjoying working on cars, Virgil enjoyed watching professional wrestling and following the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.
His visitation will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
