

Born August 27, 1908 in Gibson City to William and Imo (Hahneman) Watts, he married Gail Cronan on August 24, 1929. She died December 15, 1988 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter; and two brothers.
Surviving are one son, Virgil (Beverly) Watts, Jr. of Barrington Hills; one daughter, Carol (Ron) Burlingame of Pekin; four grandchildren, Timothy (Sara) Burlingame of Pekin, Gail (Bill) Stelter of Naperville, Virgil Lee (Hyang Mi) Watts, III of West Linn, Oregon, and Shelly (Andy Grossi) Watts of Boston, New York; and eight great-grandchildren.
Virgil worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville, retiring as a supervisor in the testing department, after 41 years.
He was an avid Illinois River boater for over 50 years and was a former member of the Pekin Boat Club.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2006at the First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Cremation will be accorded.Memorial Contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 2675 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61554.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
