

Born October 2, 1927 in Pekin to Ben and Bernice (Peoples) Carrington, she married Estell “Hap” Woods on October 9, 1948 in Pekin. He died August 21, 1983 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Kim (Mark) Wankel of Morton; one son, Brock (Angie) Woods of Morton; five grandchildren, Nichole (Aaron) Charfoos of Chicago; Christina (Ryan) Borleis of Maryland; Jennifer (Scott) Johnson, of Chicago; Brody Woods and Lexie Woods, both of Morton; and eight great-grandchildren.
Virginia had worked as a secretary at Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville, retiring in 1954. Following her retirement, she was a homemaker and mother.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Virginia enjoyed gardening and doing yardwork but her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Dillon Cemetery in Dillon.
