

Born February 20, 1948 in Pekin to Walton and Marjorie (Russell) Steenbergen, he married L. Kay Hoyle on June 25, 1966 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Wendy) Steenbergen of South Pekin and Daron (Kelly) Steenbergen of Trenton; five grandchildren, Dustin (Naomi) Anderson and Kortni (Sam) Neaver, both of Pekin, Joshua Steenbergen and Jarad Steenbergen, both of Trenton, and Cody Steenbergen of South Pekin; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Anita Hohimer of Pekin and Sandra (Bob) Davis of Delavan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Danielle Steenbergen; one brother, Dennis Steenbergen.
Ed worked at Witco in Mapleton for 32 ½ years, retiring in 2000 as a waste treatment operator.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869 in Pekin and the Verlin M. Showalter Masonic Lodge #1172 in Bartonville. He also was president of the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1232 Men’s Auxiliary in Pekin, where he was a volunteer.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid reader.
Services will be private. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
