He was born Aug.15, 1942 in Kingman, IN to William F. and Jeanette (Sullivan) Dykes.
Surviving are 4 brothers, Leland (Brenda) Dykes of Mitchell, Ind., Gordon (Dolly) Dykes of Springfield, Ohio, Joseph Dykes of Pekin, and Ernest (Joyce) Dykes, of Eaton, Ohio.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
He served with the U.S. Army in Germany from 1964-66.
Bill was a truck driver, working for Heinz Trucking in Brimfield for the last 10 years. Previously, he had worked for FS in Princeville, had been a certified waste treatment operator in Yates City, and worked at International Harvester in Canton from 1963-83.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 649E in Peoria.
He enjoyed watching wrestling, NASCAR racing, and Texas Hold’em poker on TV.
Cremation will be accorded.
