

Visitation will be 4:30-6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Alabaster, Anthony’s home church. Immediately following the visitation, a Celebration of Anthony’s Life will begin at 6 p.m. at the church Tuesday. Pastors Steve Andrews, Charlie Dale, and Mike Byars will officiate.
On Wednesday, February 1, 2017, the family and friends will gather for the 3 p.m. graveside service at Union Line Cemetery in Soso, MS. Dr. Jason Wade, Anthony’s nephew, will officiate.
After achieving the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies at William Carey University, Anthony earned his second undergraduate degree in Journalism at the University of South Alabama. Later, he completed training at the New Horizons Computer Center in diagnostics, repair, and network administration certificates.
Anthony’s journalism career blossomed in 1990 when he became a correspondent and photographer with The Mobile Press Register newspaper. Seven years later, he became a features correspondent and reporter with The Alabama Baptist newspaper. From 2003-2004, he served as assistant editor with The Alabama Baptist.
Anthony’s awards and achievements included the 1983 Jenkins Chastine Award at William Carey, the 2004 Wilmer C. Fields Feature Writing Award for his written work at The Alabama Baptist, and four years of service as newsletter editor and a member of the board of director for the Press Club of Mobile.
Anthony’s other employments included a field researcher and photographer with the CoStar Group; a UMS meter reader; and, most recently, an administrative assistant at Indian Springs First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his infant brother, Mark Bernard Wade. Survivors include Anthony’s wife of 21 years, Jeniffer Hrabe Wade; one brother, Roger G. Wade (Gail) of Laurel, MS; mother-in-law, Jeanette Jones Hrabe; two nephews, Jason R. Wade (Kaylee) and Jeremy G. Wade (Heather); great-nieces, Loren Abigail Wade and Lyndsey Karaline Wade; and great-nephews, Benjamin Taylor Wade, Clark Gibson Wade, and Creed Franklin Wade.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Anthony Wade’s memory to the “Bridge to the Future Campaign” at First Baptist Church of Alabaster, AL; the Scholarship Fund at Evangel Classical Christian School in Alabaster; or the General Fund and Ministries at Indian Springs First Baptist Church.
