A dedicated educator, Betty spent many years teaching elementary school and had a lifelong love of learning. She was also a talented artist and an avid traveler, always able to notice and appreciate the small wonders of nature. Most of all, Betty was happiest when surrounded by her family especially while sitting on her front porch, sharing stories and laughter with those she loved most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Buck Ferguson, and her daughter, Susan Ferguson. She is survived by her daughters, Amy Cashio (Richard) and Cindy Rhoden (Ken), her grandchildren, Molly Cashio, Rachel Letcher (Wes), Mary Susan Houston (Hunter), Sarah Yandell (William), Alexander Kontomitras (Carolyne), and Sloane Rhoden (Stephanie), and her great-grandchildren, Franny, Virginia, Anne Betts, Mac, Wells, and Vivian.
Betty was known for her quiet strength, generosity, and deep well of wisdom. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and gentle guidance that will live on in the many lives she touched.
We are especially grateful for the amazing caretakers: Barbara Harris, Edwina Cunningham, Kim Dickerson, Soledad Vargas, her family, and everyone at JS Elite Services and homeRN.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Homewood Church of Christ, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Studio by the Tracks, in recognition of her lifelong dedication to art and learning.
