She earned her undergraduate degree in physical education at Howard College, where she also met her husband, Glen Yancey. They went on to raise four boys, Ricky, Ronnie, Randy, and Raymond.
In addition to her husband and four sons, Mrs. Yancey is survived by grandchildren, Derek Yancey, Brett Yancey, Crystl Parcher, Brandi Barnes, MacKenzie Yancey, Sashi Figueroa, Megan Seaton, Gage Yancey, Mallory Yancey, Jack Yancey, Josh Champion, Adrian Setliff, and Robin Setliff; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Seaton, Madison Parcher, Austin Parcher, Destin Parcher, Zachary Barnes, Lucas Barnes, William Champion, Alex Champion, and Isaac Chambers; and one brother, Bill Lawler.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Clanton, immediately followed by the 11 a.m. funeral at the church. The private committal service will be later Saturday at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL.
