Bob R. Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bob R. Smith, a man of unwavering faith, exceptional business acumen, and boundless love for his family. Bob, age 89, peacefully departed from this world on September 25, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Bob is well known as the visionary owner and leader of Precision Husky Corporation, a company that has forestry equipment being used around the world. Bob joined Precision in 1967. Not many years later, Bob acquired Precision and nurtured and led this company for over 40 years. His innovative leadership and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on this industry, the Precision customers, and his employees who are the real heart of Precision.

Beyond his remarkable professional career, Bob was a devoted pastor at three churches where he led countless souls to Christ. He always had a pastor’s heart, and he led with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Bob's success in business and ministry was only surpassed by his devotion to his beloved wife, Martha. Their enduring love story spanned an incredible 69 years, setting an example of steadfast commitment and partnership for all who knew them. Together, they raised three wonderful children, and, as expected, they consistently spoiled eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

As a husband, a father, a businessman and pastor, Bob was a shining example of doing things the right way. He never let us down. The impact on the lives he touched, whether through business, ministry, or as a loving family man, will resonate for generations to come.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Martha Smith; his children Kathy (Michael) Bell, Kevin (Lynne) Smith, Scott (Lisa) Smith; his grandchildren Dustin (Sarah) Smith, Landon (Erin) Bell, Chanley Bell, Bethany (Marcus) Morrast, Jackson Smith, Alyssa (Caleb) Roland, and Kayli Smith; and his great grandchildren Ozzy Smith, Zeke Morrast, Ryder Bell, Dax Smith, and Mary Tyler Bell. Bob is reunited with his grandson, Jordy Bell.

A visitation will be held at 11 AM on September 28 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home (475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124). We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring the remarkable life of Bob R. Smith. There will be a private entombment service after the visitation.

May he rest in eternal peace, his legacy living on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
