Bonda Theresa Kircher

She attended John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Alabama, and later continued her education at UAB, where she studied dental assisting. Bonda was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and remained devoted to her Catholic faith throughout her life.

On August 6, 1966, she married James John Kircher in Birmingham, Alabama. They were blessed with four children and shared 39 years of marriage together.

Bonda was self-employed as an owner and manager for many years and retired at the age of 65. She worked hard and took pride in everything she did.

In her free time, she enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, reading, and most of all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. She especially loved being surrounded by her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Family meant everything to her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James John Kircher; her parents; and her two younger brothers, Anthony Smaha and George Smaha (Rose).

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Theresa Catherine Kircher (James Brennan), Ann Marie Ruggerio (James Marcus), Susann Kircher, M.D., and Christine Goguen (Christopher John); her grandchildren: Madeline Nicole Ruggerio, David Anthony Ruggerio (Margaret), Sophia Claire Ruggerio, Tanner Christopher Goguen (Angelica), Benjamin James Goguen, and Anthony James Brennan; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard Smaha (Donna).

Bonda was especially close to her first cousins on her mother’s side and to her nieces and nephews. Bonda loved her family and was very devoted to her faith. She will be missed, but her memory and the love she shared will live on.

A visitation will be held on February 26, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Parish, located at 5514 Double Oak Ln, Birmingham, AL, 35242, United States.

The funeral service will follow on the same day, February 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location.
