

Carol, age 70 and a native of Birmingham, was Born Dec 20, 1945, and passed away peacefully on April 15, 2016 with her family at her bedside. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Smith Adams and William Vernon Adams. Carol is survived and dearly loved by her husband, Howard English, of 48 years and her three loving children, daughter Chris Shelton (Ken), sons Scott English (Shelley) and Steve English (Sherry). She had six beautiful grandchildren, Nicole and Courtney Shelton, Ashlyn and Madison English, and Kayla and Cameron English, with one great-grandson, Josiah Johnson. In addition, she leaves behind her two sisters Lynne Isom (husband Ed) and Jan Smith, with five nephews, Alan, Brett and Drew Isom, and Ben and Andy Smith, and most recently her beloved and devoted dog, Opie. Her extended family includes her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Beverly English, and Phil English, all of Birmingham. She graduated from Ensley High School and attended Troy University. Carol, a retired muralist and artist, was blessed with an innate artistic ability and a natural talent for decorating. She also loved the art of cooking and enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. She was blessed by a gentle spirit that led her to touch the lives of her family and friends with an abundance of her love and giving heart without limitation. We will deeply mourn the loss of her precious soul; a woman of great virtue.
Visitation services will be held Sunday evening, April 17th, from 5-7 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on the corner of Hwy 119 and I-65. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 18th at 1:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, followed by the burial at Forest Crest Cemetery, 5730 Hwy 78 East, in Birmingham.
