OWENS, CAROLYN SUE SHOEMAKER, 72, of Pelham, Alabama passed away Saturday morning, August 6, 2011. She was born and raised in the Birmingham, Alabama area, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Carolyn attended Ensley High School, and later worked with U.S. Steel, where she retired with 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her mother, Inez Pike. Survivors included Carolyn's husband, James William Owens Sr.; one daughter, Denise Burrell (Matthew); one son, James William Owens Jr. (Carmela); grandchildren, Angus Burrell, Melia Burrell, Marisa Nicole Owens, and Jenna Eve Owens; two sisters, Barbara Ann Thomas and Debbie Gail Graves; and numerous nieces and nephews.
