

Catherine E. Lewis, 71, of Hoover, AL, better known as “Sis”, passed away on November 1, 2015 at UAB Hospital after a battle with Dementia/ Alzheimer’s compounded by brain hemorrhages. She was born March 30, 1944 in Homestead, PA. She is survived by her husband of more than 46 years, William P. Lewis; sons, James Scott Lewis (Jeanette) of Fayetteville, TN, Jeffrey William Lewis (Nicole) of Greensburg, PA, and daughter Jennifer Lynn Rietow (John) of Grovertown, IN; brothers, Steven Senich, Timothy Senich, and William Senich of Pittsburgh, PA; and six grandchildren, Katie and Sarah Rietow, Tessa Lewis, Anthony Lewis, Franco Lewis, and Giana Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents Steven Senich and Dorothy Senich Watt, and her Sister Susan Senich Goulder. She lived in several locations across the county including Pennsylvania, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, and Alabama. When she arrived in Birmingham, AL in 1996 she said this feels like home to me and this is where she and her husband chose to retire. It turns out her grandmother Lydia Adlington was born in Alabama. She was an active member of Riverchase Country Club and was a past President and Vice President of the Riverchase Ladies Golf Association. She was also served on the Golf Committee and House Committee. She loved gardening and landscaping and was a certified Indiana Plantsman and a Master Gardener. She also worked as a bank teller for Ohio Bank. She was a great cook, baker, and seamstress. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great and caring friend to all who knew her well. Services will be at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Rd., Pelham, AL 35124 on Sunday Nov. 8 with visitation from 3pm to 4pm followed by a celebration of life at 4pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama, P.O. Box 2273, Birmingham, AL 35201 are requested.
