

Charles Belon McCormick, 91, long-time resident of Pelham, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He was born January 4, 1933 in Haleyville, Alabama to the late Charlie Lee McCormick and Venus Leola Brown McCormick.
In addition to his parents, Belon was preceded in death by one son, James Edward McCormick; two sisters, Martha Wilson and Gay Silas; and the mother of his children, Betty Ingram McCormick.
Survivors include Belon's wife, Betty Joyce Chandler McCormick; two sons, Steve (Rena) McCormick and Mike (Paula) McCormick; three daughters, Jenifer (Eddie) Hill, Joanie (Mike) Raney, and Vicki Pietrack; daughter-in-law, Dixie McCormick; grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Lauren, Caitlin, Colton, Erin, Dylan, Chase, Drew, Karlie, Abby, and Connor; six great-grandchildren; many nieces; and nephews.
"Chuck" was a graduate of Bear Creek School in Haleyville and a U.S. Army Veteran. For many years, he worked in mechanics and maintenance for Jefferson County (Alabama) Sheriff's Department and later for the United States Postal Service. With his home church, First Baptist Church of Pelham, he was a member of Carpenters for Christ and went on several North American and international mission trips. He was a member of the Alabama Woodworking Guild, and his other favorite pastimes included repairing cars and collecting guns.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Pelham from 1-2 p.m., followed by A Celebration of Life for Chuck at 2 p.m. at the church, 2867 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, AL 35124. The gravesite committal service will be at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Alabama National Cemetery, Highway 119 South, Montevallo, AL 35115.
