
Aged 53 of Alabaster, AL, died February 7, 2011. He was born November 7, 1957, in Pensacola, FL, the son of Dr. John M. and Ann Schoonover Packard. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and received his B.S. in computer technology from UAB.
Charles worked as a computer programmer. His interests included photography, astronomy, alternative energy, and cooking. He was a kind and generous man, nurturing abandoned dogs, and volunteering with the Shelby Humane Society.
He is survived by his parents, three sisters: Dr. Ann Maurine (Dr.James Hudspeth), Mary Packard, and Charlotte (Shawn) Manning; four brothers: Dr. Michael Packard (Catherine), Dr.John Packard, Jr.(Bitsy), Krid Asvanon (Anne), and Frank (Molly); four nieces: Elizabeth Packard, Ann Hudspeth, Tippy Asvanon, and Sara Kathryn Packard; five nephews: William Packard (Maya), Dr. James Hudspeth, Adam Packard, Raja Asvanon, and Benjamin Packard; and three grandnieces: Julia, Allison, and Caroline Packard.
Funeral service will be held Saturday February 12, 2011, at 3:30 PM at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Canyon Road, Vestavia Hills, the Reverend Stephen Hood officiating. Family will receive friends in the Terrell Welcome Center following the service.
