

Charles Reid Simpson of Alabaster, AL, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 13, 2026. He was born to Charles H. "Bud" Simpson and Margaret Reid McKnight on October 25, 1966, in Memphis, TN. In his youth, Charles was known to many as Bubba. He attended Randleman Elementary and Middle School in Randleman, NC. Charles was an excellent pitcher and catcher for JP Stevens baseball team under the coaching of Mr. James Turner. Charles attended high school at Madison Rigeland, where he played baseball under Mike Kent and football under the late PB Walker. After graduating from high school in 1984, Charles enlisted in the United States Navy. Serving aboard the USS Dale during a Libyan conflict. Charles was very proud to have served his country. After the military, Charles' career path took him to industrial manufacturing of tool sales, where he excelled and won numerous awards. Charles was employed with MAPAL, based in Port Huron, MI. He will be missed by his colleagues and customers.
Charles was an avid golfer who enjoyed his Saturday morning tee-times and his annual golf trips with the "Goosepond" group. Charles enjoyed his annual trout fishing group traveling to the remote parts of NC. He enjoyed and loved his family and his many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles "Bud" Simpson, and Woody McKnight; his sister, Lisa Simpson Hardister.
Charles survived by his loving partner, Susan Simpson, his mother, Margaret McKnight, son, Charles Reid Simpson II, and 4 sisters, Kriss Kennedy, Angie Luther, Lori Simpson Hughes, and Leslie Simpson Granno, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We treasure the many memories, we can celebrate his life, and take comfort knowing he is with his heavenly father in his heavenly home.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham.
