

Charles "Daryl" Wideman, age 66, of Chelsea, Alabama, passed away on May 17, 2025. He was born in Birmingham, AL, on March 8, 1959, to Charles Farrell Wideman and Lucille Nabors Wideman. Daryl was a graduate of Ensley High School and went on to begin a career as a Heavy Truck Mechanic working for various automobile dealerships. He also worked for United Parcel Service and Alabama Power Company.
On April 21, 1979, Daryl married Susan Holcombe Wideman and would go on to welcome three loving sons.
He was a devoted Southern Baptist and brought his family up to serve the Lord, he had most recently become a member of North Shelby Baptist Church.
He looked forward to days of fishing and boating, warm sunny days at the beach, and one would say he had a soft spot in his heart for all animals. Above all else, what meant the most to Daryl was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride. His legacy will live on through the love he poured into his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucille Wideman; sister Karen (Kay) Wideman. Daryl leaves behind his wife, Susan Holcombe Wideman; sons, Charles Andrew Wideman (Crystal), David Farrell Wideman (Jennifer), Joshua Cole Wideman (Lindsey); sister, Kathy Wideman White (Ray); 3 grandsons and two granddaughters; and nieces and nephews he deeply loved.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service to follow in his honor at 11:00 am at North Shelby Baptist Church. A private graveside will be held for the family.
