

After attending the University of Alabama for two years, "Clay" earned his degree in Jacksonville, Florida at Tulsa Welding School, where he maintained a 4.0 grade point average and received Dean's List recognition. His professional career included employment as lead welder for Erected Steel Products in Bessemer, Alabama.
Clay was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and Covenant Presbyterian Church. His favorite pastime was building steel furniture and steel fabricated art.
Clay is survived by his mother, Melanie Marie Wilcox Landers of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; his father, Michael Lee Landers of Destin, Florida; one brother, Dr. Michael Conrad Landers (Michaola) of Vestavia Hills; uncle, Dr. C. Mel Wilcox (Kim) of Mountain Brook, Alabama; and three aunts, Amy Dewitt (Tim) of Birmingham, Joy Marlow of Trinity, Alabama, and Debbie Tillard of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Clay also leaves behind his godparents, Karen and Jerry Duncan of Birmingham; and first cousins, Mel Wilcox III (Caroline) of South Carolina, Nicki Barrington (David) of Columbus, Ohio, Sarah Tillard of Chattanooga, Andrew Marlow (Nicki) of Huntsville, Alabama, Morgan Pewitt of Birmingham, and Catherine Longnecker (Derek) of Birmingham.
The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022 at the chapel at Church of the Highlands Grants Mill, 4700 Highlands Way, Birmingham, AL 35210, immediately followed by A Celebration of Clay's Life at 11 a.m. at the church. The private gravesite committal service will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
