

Craig was a graduate of Dougherty High School in Albany, Georgia. He received his Associate Degree in Maintenance Data Systems Analysis from the Community College of the U.S. Air Force.
Craig retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1994 with 21 years of service in weapons management and database management. His last Air Force assignment was at RAF Lakenheath UK.
Following his distinguished military career, he embarked upon a new journey in Alamogordo, New Mexico, with UPS, from which he retired in 2010. He had one final career in database management, retiring in 2023 as a contractor with Amentum at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma.
In his leisure, he enjoyed building model airplanes and cars, and cooking. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, Craig was predeceased by his grandmother, Buena Long. He is survived by his wife, the former Lyntel A. Walton, to whom he was married on March 21, 1980; three children, Brian A. Murphy, Randall C. Murphy, and Kim P. Murphy; two grandchildren, London Murphy and Raylyn Murphy; and one sister, Robin Murphy Elder (Dwight E. Elder, Sr).
Visitation will be at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. The military service and inurnment will be at 12:30 p.m. on April 24 at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
