

DE MEIS, DAVID AMERICO, 63, of Birmingham, AL died September 5, 2013. The son of Italian immigrants, David was born to the late Joseph and Jennie De Meis in Coraopolis, PA on November 10, 1949. David grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and after living in a few more cities, settled in Birmingham. He loved to travel, enjoyed boating on Lake Martin, snow skiing, Auburn Football, and even picked up competitive tennis while living in Washington State. He last worked with Southern Company and enjoyed his years of service there as well as Rust where he befriended many co-workers. He cherished all holidays with his extended family and enjoyed all the love his family brought to him. Everyone loved David and his wonderful personality; he was very funny, generous, and always positive. David is survived by his wife, Jane Butler De Meis; his children, Marc and Jennie and stepson Tyler DeStefano (Jennifer), all of Birmingham; his brother, Henry (Linda); his sister, Connie (Tom) Balestreire; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, September 9, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. On Tuesday, September 10, 2013, the family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Birmingham, with the Mass of Celebration immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham following Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either Catholic Charities or The Wounded Warrior Project. David De Meis lived life to the fullest every day and considered himself a truly blessed man.
