David (Dave) Patrick Elmore (52) of Cropwell, Alabama passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2024. Born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 2, 1971 to Ann & Jimmy Elmore, Dave lived most of his life in & around Birmingham. He attended school at Green Valley Elementary, Simmons Junior High, Lyman Ward Military Academy & W. A. Berry High School. He met the love of his life & best friend, Lori Harris Elmore, at the 2004 Iron Bowl, randomly having been seated next to one another. They began dating in 2005 & married on March 7, 2007; they enjoyed a loving & supportive partnership for the 19 years that they were together. Dave's greatest pride & joy were his two sons, Houston Banks Elmore (27) and Cade Warren Elmore (25), both of Birmingham. Some of Dave's greatest joys were cheering on the Auburn Tigers, creating & cooking delicious recipes for his family & friends and his devoted & rambunctious bulldog, Buster. Dave was a master at figuring out how to do things & spent most of his career in home-building, renovation & construction - he was a dreamer by nature & he loved to create. Practically by himself, he built the beautiful lakefront home that Lori & he shared in Cropwell. It is a meticulous masterpiece that he wanted to provide for his bride & their families and is a testament to his love for both her & their children. With their marriage, Lori & Dave blended two wonderful families, and their love for one another's children was seamless, immediate and unconditional. Dave sought to be a supportive & loving presence to Lori's children, Harrison, Sarah and Connor; and Lori has been the same to Houston & Cade. The only thing bigger than Dave's desire to love & support his family was his heart, which was robust, full & true. Those that knew & loved Dave were better people because of his gregarious & loving spirit. Any words to express how greatly he will be missed are inadequate. Dave & Lori are members at Cropwell Baptist Church. Dave was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Elmer B. Harris. He is survived by his wife, Lori Elmore; sons, Houston & Cade Elmore; chosen children, Harrison, Sarah & Connor King; parents, Ann & Jimmy Elmore; brother, Jay Elmore; nephews & niece, Jackson, Hayes & Anna Lane Elmore; mother-in-law, Glenda Harris; sister- & brother-in-law, Suzanne & Tommy Harris; nephews & nieces, Carlyn Tyree (Brent), Ashley Meinhardt (Daniel) and Austin Harris. A celebration of Dave's life will be held Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Birmingham; visitation will begin at 2 pm, immediately followed by a memorial service at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dave's memory to the non-profit "On River Time," an organization that offers help to children of abuse & neglect. https://www.onrivertime.org/
