

He was educated at Columbia Military Academy and Hanover College in Hanover Indiana.
His Army Service was from 1946 – 1948. He was an armorer and received WWII Victory Metal and the Army of occupations metal – Japan. From 1962 to 1992 (30 years) he was a manufacturers sales representative in the office supply industry. His happiest work years 1994 – 2003 were spent as a school bus driver for the Shelby County Board of Education under Jerry Davidson and the principal of Oak Mountain Elementary School. These school kids were the love of his life.
David died from brain cancer at the V.A. Home in Pell city.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Frances; three sons, Eric Holden (Ika) of Tampa, FL, John Holden (Kim) of Indianapolis, Ind, and James Simmons of Palm Springs, Calf; three daughters, Cynthia Hannerman (Jim) Indianapolis, Ind, Deborah Wingate (Larry) of Tampa, FL, and Joan Symnes of Birmingham, AL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
David was a devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham, AL. His memorial service will be on Tuesday February 23 at 3:30pm at Asbury United Methodist Church on Highway 119 in Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be given to Asbury United Methodist Church.
