Dorothy C Schneider

SCHNEIDER, DOROTHY (DOT) COWHAM, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy (Dot) Cowham Schneider died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010. She was 87. There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Valley Christian Church with burial to follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery. Mrs. Schneider was born April 1, 1923, to Glenn and Dolly Cowham, of Montgomery, Ala. She grew up in Montgomery, and married in 1942. Mrs. Schneider was a faithful member of Valley Christian Church for more than 56 years. "Ms Dot" was a much loved Sunday School teacher for preschool children for years, served the Christian Women's Fellowship, and sang in the church choir. She held a number of church positions and was recognized with several awards and honors for her dedicated Christian service. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Winslow McCrummen (Mac) Schneider; three children: sons, Mac Schneider Jr., and William (Cynthia) Schneider, and daughter Beverly (James) Lakin; her grandchildren, Kimberly (James) Hurley, Eric Schneider, Jaime (Drew) Tillman, Joni Lakin, and Rebecca Lakin; one great-grandson James McCrummen (Mac) Tillman. Mrs. Schneider was preceded in death by a grandson Keith Schneider. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Valley Christian Church in memory Mrs. Schneider.
