Doug was born on May 18, 1948 to Elvie and Emma Black. He married Phyllis Hale Black on December 30, 1992.
He was a member of Calera Baptist Church and was successful in his career as a well-known homebuilder. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf at Timberline Golf Club and traveling with his wife in their motorhome.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Elvie and Emma Black, and his two sisters, Jean Martin and Betty Jo Ray. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Black; his sister, Becky Golden; his daughters, Brandy Barr (David) and Michelle Hyde (Tim); his grandchildren, Sydney Jones Wright (Madison), Wade Hyde (Cortney), and Jeremy Hyde (Haley); and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham from 1-2 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance for Doug at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
