Douglas Richard Mayo, age 54, from Bessemer, AL, a strong Christian man was called Home suddenly to be with the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2016. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, John and June Mayo. He is survived by his wife, Linda Mayo; his daughter, Kimmy Kay Tillery; step daughter, Alycia Lowe; grandchildren, Andrea, Dakota, and Justin; sisters: Patricia Mayo Walker, Jo Alice (Darrell) Hankins, Martha (Ray) Baker; brother: Jefferson H. (Jennifer) Mayo; special nephew, Marc Walker; loving Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and the loving Shields Family.
Doug was a devoted company man with Pitney Bowes for 33 years. His hobbies included fishing and golfing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, with a multitude of friends. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2nd from 10am till 11am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in Doug’s name be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
