Dustin Barton

Dustin was born on May 24, 1985, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Hunter and Vicki Barton. In his lifetime, he faced many challenges, including cerebral palsy, blindness, being non-verbal, and other physical limitations, but through it all, he was happy and a joy to be around. He had a gentle spirit and loving nature and was a true blessing to everyone who knew him.

Dustin loved his family and treasured time spent with them, whether visiting in Birmingham, Montgomery, Virginia, or North Carolina, or simply being with them on the phone. His favorite pastimes included listening to music and attending family gatherings. He especially adored his nephew and nieces. He had a special bond with his sister, and he loved her dearly.

Dustin attended the adult day program at United Ability and had many friends there. He was also a cherished member of the Special Connections class at Hunter Street Baptist Church, with wonderful teachers and classmates and he found great joy in being a part of this small group family.

He is survived by his loving parents, Hunter and Vicki Barton of Birmingham, Alabama; his sister, Bailey (Austin) Trammell; his nephew, Levi; his nieces, Cadence and Penny, all of Birmingham, Alabama; his grandmother, Joyce Parrish of Montgomery, Alabama; his grandfather, Bob Huffines of Trinity, North Carolina; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Don Parrish; his grandparents, Jim and June Barton; his step-grandmother, Lynda Huffines; his aunt Leslie Huffines Jones, and his uncle, Donnie Parrish.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this time.

A service for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, with Bill Decker officiating. There will be no prior visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to United Ability, 100 Oslo Circle, Birmingham, AL 35211, in memory of Dustin Barton.
