Edna Earl Goodwin

Edna Earl was a graduate of Thompson High School and Massey Business College. During her career, she worked as an executive secretary for Commercial Credit Corporation, UMWA Health & Retirement Fund, and worked until her retirement in 1994 for Alabama Power Company.

Edna Earl was an active member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster and Stracner Co-Ed II Sunday School Class. As a former member of Powderly Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Midfield, Alabama, she taught in the Junior department and sang in the sanctuary choirs. She was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Allison Chapter #166, Powderly, and loved life and the joy of traveling. She was a very outgoing person and always wore a smile.

Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Goodwin; parents, Rev. Quinton B. Lee and Mrs. Ethel W. Lee; brother, Q.B. Lee, Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Martha Lee of Greensboro; and nephew, Michael (Kathy) Trucks of Crane Hill, Alabama.

Mrs. Goodwin is survived by daughters, Sherry Contorno of Calera, Alabama, and Renee Austin of Hueytown, Alabama; sister-in-law, Ann (Jerry) Trucks of Crane Hill; grandchildren, Jacob (Angela) Contorno, Shea Austin, and Zachary Austin; nieces, Jean (John) Elder of High Point, North Carolina, Becky (Jeff) Freeman, and Kristie (Ron) Burrow of Crane Hill; nephews, Phillip Lee of Greensboro and Timothy (Michelle) Lee of Virginia; great-grandson, Brooks Contorno; and great-granddaughter, Lily Ann Contorno.

Visitation for Mrs. Goodwin will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Also on Friday, June 17, A Service of Remembrance for Edna Earl will begin at 12 noon at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Rev. Mike Byars will officiate.
