

Frank Robert Clarke, son of the late Charles and Maude Clarke of Kent, England, passed away in his home on Dec. 7th at 79. He was born Feb. 4th, 1936, the youngest of five children. At 18, he ventured to Canada. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He then immigrated to the US, became a citizen and served in the army for two years. He married the late Joan Barbara Lovendusky from New Jersey. They had three children, Steven, Lisa, and David. The family then moved to Birmingham, AL in 1969. Frank started Royal Oldsmobile and later went on to start a car brokerage business, Royal Auto Exchange, which has been in business for 39 years.
Frank married Madeline Reynolds Woodward in 1999. He became a Christian and began attending Hunter Street Baptist Church. He was very involved in the church Sunday school, men’s Bible study, volunteering in the nursery, and as a greeter. He made a positive and lasting impression on everyone he met, and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife Madeline, son Steven (Susan), daughter Lisa Rickey, son David (Ann), and grandchildren: Lydia, Emma, and Robert Clarke, and Jessica and Jenna Rickey. He is also survived by his children by marriage to Madeline, daughter Kelly Byers (Brad), son Larry Woodward (Randa), and grandchildren: Mary Caroline Roberson (Forrest), Bradley and Will Byers, and Jake, Madeline Rose, and Nathan Woodward.
Visitation is at 2:30 on Sat. Dec. 12th, and the service will begin at 3:30 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home.
