Frank "Papa" Sartain

Frank Bryan Sartain, 59, began singing in heaven's chorus on January 13, 2014. He was born October 1, 1954 to Sam and Tallulah (Toots) Sartain in Jasper, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Diana Gay Sartain; son Grant (Nicole) Sartain, daughter, Jill (Rhett) Guarnieri, grandsons: Heath, Hunter, Landon and Tripp Guarnieri, Hudson Sartain and granddaughter, Amelia Sartain. Mother and father-in-law Orville and Doris Gay. Brother, Scott (Donna) Sartain, sister, Nancy (Andy) Skates andLori (Matt) Carden. Sister-in-law, Brenda (Rick) Brasfield, brother-in-law, Melvin (Carol) Gay and several nieces and nephews. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and spent many hours with his children and grandchildren hunting, fishing and enjoying wildlife. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Diana. His happiest times were spent having family gatherings and playing with his grandchildren. Frank had a love for gospel music and often sang with his family and church quartet. Frank was a long-time member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church, an active deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 at Meadow Brook Baptist Church. The family will accept visitors beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the service beinning at 11:00 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Birmingham Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Alabama or Meadow Brook Baptist Church.
