I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Greene's passing. He was beyond a blessing and encouragement to me during my years (1987-1990) at Southeastern. Besides my own father, who also went to be with His Lord very unexpectedly just a few years ago, I have never known such a kind and gentle man. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as I know that only eternity will truly heal the empty place that is now there in your hearts.

Dr. Greene touched many lives, including mine.  I will remember him with fondness.  He opened my eyes to the beauty of prose when I thought it was all a waste of words.  He also opened my heart to the grace and mercy of Jesus whom he so obviously loved.  His office was always a place of acceptance and wisdom.  I imagine him today, sitting with His Lord and Gerard Manley Hopkins, having a wonderful time.  Until we can sit in on that conversation ourselves, we will miss him.

Dr. Greene was my favorite professor, who always made me feel valuable. I will never forget him.

Gary was one of the most encouraging, Godly, kind and loving people That I have ever met.  At Southeastern, 1989-93, his always good humor and ready smile blessed all he came in contact with.

What a life this awesome guy lived--how blessed we are to have been a tiny part, and to have known him.  Joan, you truly were a help meet for Gary, and also your own person; you will continue to have your own impact on your world!  Know that we are praying for you and the girls as you move forward.  It was gratifying last night to see how many people were there; he obviously had significant impact on many lives.  We love you, Dr. Bob and Mary Alice

Bro Gary was always an encouragement to me. A warm smile, a strong handshake, and a direct look into my eyes let me know he was genuinely pleased to say hello.  As a student of SEBC (80-84), I was blessed with great teachers but Dr. Greene was the biggest blessing to me. He truly radiated the love of Jesus. May God bless his family! We are sadden by the sudden passing of Gary and extend our deepest sympathy to you his family for this great loss. As former student's of SEBC we hold on to the fond memories and friendship we shared with Gary. Our prayer's is that God will shower you all with grace and comfort and the confidence that he has merely change residence and now resting in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

Dr. Greene always had a smile on his face and greeted everyone he knew by name and with a friendly handshake.  He instantly made me feel welcome as a freshman at SEBC. Pour out, Our Father, your abundant love and comfort upon the family of Gary Greene during these days of their sadness and loss.  May they draw freely from your limitless store of courage, strength, and grace this day and in the days to come.

An obituary could never convey all that Gary Greene contributed to others.  An astonishing gift of encouragement like no one we ever met; and he was was encouraging several people the afternoon he died up until his sudden death.  It was naturally supernatural as God worked through him.What a blessing he was to all of us!

Gary has been a blessing to so many people. He will be greatly missed. Thank you, God, for your love and for securing a place for Gary with you. We long forward to seeing him again.

Truly, Gary was a letter written by God in a heart of flesh - read and known by all that knew him. Without the need for words, Gary spoke to us all through his kind and gentle spirit.

What joy Gary has found in the arms of his Savior!  While we are all saddened by his sudden death, he will always be a part of everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.

We will never forget such a great, gentle spirited man.  He was a friend to many and a wonderful teacher.  I'll never forget singing a song he wrote with him.  Praying especially for his wife and daughters.  Abigail for Ben and the kids
