Born in Jefferson County, Alabama, on September 17, 1935, Gary attended Ensley High School before continuing his education at Howard College (now Samford University), where he graduated from the school of pharmacy. On September 6, 1958, he married Gail Adams, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years.
Gary dedicated his career to pharmacy and was well-respected in his field. A devoted member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church for over 60 years, he found great joy in his relationship with Jesus Christ. He had a passion for traveling, cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and listening to gospel music and the Bee Gees.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, David T. Parks and Irene Dickey Parks, as well as his brother, Ardy Parks. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Adams Parks, his son, Gavin E. Parks, his granddaughter, Abby Parks Cox (Justin), and his sister, Nancy Lopez (Alberto).
Gary was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Samaritan’s Purse.
“Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
But to your name give glory.”
-Psalm 115:1
