

George received his formal education in Birmingham City Schools. Upon completion, he attended the University of Alabama Extension Center and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a Sales Representative for Durkee Foods for 29 years.
In his leisure, George enjoyed playing Golf and watching Alabama football. He loved to play ping pong with friends, relatives and neighbors. He travelled the country and all 50 states including Canada and Mexico in his small RV. George always said that “It was the best years of his life.”
George was a member of Mountain Brook Community Church for 7 years. He was also a member of Shades Mountain Bible Church for 23 years.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Peggy H. Chadbourne; brothers and sisters, Johnny Chadbourne, Lillian May Johnson, Florence Leonard, Alfred Chadbourne, Jimmy Chadbourne and Stephen Chadbourne.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Sandra Cardenales and Wanda Spears; grandchildren, Kimberly Zeigman of Conroe, TX, Lindsay (Greg) Kilgore of Jasper, AL; great-grandchildren, Summer Zeigman of Irving, TX, Lilly and Meg Kilgore of Jasper, AL; sister-in-law, Camellia Huey of Jasper, AL.
A visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
