Georgia was born in Lillydale, Tennessee to Wilbur Palo and Juanita Boles Stanford. She graduated from Franklin-Simpson High School in Franklin, Kentucky and attended Western Kentucky University. Throughout her life, she lived many places, but her heart always remained in Kentucky.
Georgia loved the Lord and lived her faith as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Alabaster, Alabama. She was actively involved in United Methodist Women, Keenagers and JOY Group Bible Study. She put her faith in action in her community as the treasurer of the Pensacola, Florida Junior Women's Club and president of the Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital Auxillary.
The epitome of the southern lady, Georgia taught her family the importance of good manners and hospitality. A birthday, an anniversary, or any holiday was occasion to send a card or gather to celebrate. And when she wasn’t soaking up time with her beloved children and grandchildren, you might find her playing bridge, reading, or watching Kentucky play ball.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Robert Mikul; her parents, Wilbur Palo and Juanita Boles Stanford; and her son, Paul Allen Mikul.
Survivors include Georgia's son, Dr. Larry Stephen Mikul (Melinda) of Pelham; her daughter, Amy Mikul Panos (Alex) of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Lynn Fellers Mikul of Pensacola; and her grandchildren, Zachary Lane Shackelford, Kristina Mikul Shirley (Eric), Olivia Katherine Mikul, Brett Nicholas Panos and John Thomas Panos.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., and the service will be at 6 p.m.
