

She was born to Elizabeth Davis and Dewey Dalton Farley on June 12, 1924, in Cardiff, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stone; her parents; her siblings, Fred Farley, Ruby Middleton, Donald Farley, and Bobbie Jean Verciglio.
Hazel is survived by her only child, Frances Barnes Stricklin and son-in-law, Stephen Stricklin; grandson, Matthew Stricklin; granddaughter, Stehanie E. Stricklin & grand son-in-law, Benjamin K. Robinson; and her great granddaughter, Ava Elizabeth Margaret Robinson. She is also survived by nieces & nephews, Jeanna V. Cork, Joseph Verciglio (Jan), and John Verciglio (Lisa).
Hazel was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Hoover, AL. She grew up in & was educated in Alabama & Kentucky. She was last employed by Brookwood Hearing & Speech Clinic.
Hazel was a devout Christian and loved The Lord above all things, and she loved her beloved family & her many friends with all her heart. A talented seamstress with a flair for fashion, she enjoyed sewing, & crocheting well into her nineties. Hazel had a gift and passion for gardening; she was a great lover of nature; & she enjoyed St. Peter’s 39er’s lunch & bingo with her church friends.
A funeral mass celebrating the life of Hazel Stone will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama.
Burial to follow service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South (2701 John Hawkins Parkway Hoover, AL)
