On August 4, 2013, Dr. Herman "Jimmy" Dean of Eastaboga, Alabama was called to change places from this walk of life on earth to his heavenly home. He was born on May 31, 1933 in Sycamore, Alabama to Herman and Ethel Dean who paved the way before him. Jimmy attended Howard College, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he obtained his Master's Degree, and Beeson School of Divinity where he earned his Doctorate Degree. He is survived by his wife and life-long ministry partner, Peggy Miller Dean of Eastaboga. Jimmy left a legacy behind to four children, Donna White, Gerry Wilkinson, Paula Reaves and Phillip Dean, as well as 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The depth of his legacy also goes to the ones who were called by God to full-time ministry and service under his leadership during his more than 50 years in the Ministry. He was and is the role model husband, father, minister, and friend. Jimmy's favorite activities were family, golf, family, and golf. He will be sorely missed until we are reunited with him in our heavenly home. Celebration of Jimmy Dean's life will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Liberty Baptist Church, Chelsea, Alabama, where he was pastor for 15 years. Visitation with his family will begin at 1 p.m., with a worship service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the church's sanctuary. Arrangements were made by Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama.
