Russell, Howard L. age 91, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on November 20, 2011. He was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church for over 50 years and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for the Veterans Adminstration, where he met his wife Mildred and retired from the Social Securty Adminstration. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Eula Russell and brother, John P. (Buddy) Russell. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Russell; daughter, Susan Russell (Julio); sons, Howard L. (Denise) Russell Jr. and John (Jeana) Russell; grand children, Lauren, Leigh, Taylor and Preston; sister-in-law, Dorothy Russell and a host of neices, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel November 23, 2011 at 2:00pm with burial in Southern Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7. In lieu of flowers, the famliy requests donations to Shades Crest Baptist Church.
