

A WWII Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Sewell was retired from the Anniston Army Depot in Anniston, Alabama, where he served 30 years.
Mr. Sewell was a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church in Trussville, Alabama. He was also an active member of the Senior Activity Center in Clay.
Mr. Sewell and his loving wife of 65 years, Geneva Mayfield Sewell, were former members of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Oxford, Alabama. On July 16, 1995, the Sunday school classes Hope, Faith, and Lovegreen presented an award to the Sewells for their many years of dedicated service.
Mr. Sewell was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind many friends and loved ones. Preceding him in death were his wife, Geneva; his parents, Willie and Lois Sewell; a daughter, Judy S. Hooper; son-in-law, Tom Hooper; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Marrell T. Sewell, and Curtis W. and Pauline M. Sewell; a nephew and wife, Bobby and Carole Sewell; and nephew, David Sewell.
Survivors include Mr. Sewell's two granddaughters, Carole H. Little of Vestavia, Alabama and Denise H. Gardner (John) of Clay; great-grandddaughters, Sarah Gardner and Victoria Little; and one great-great-grandson, Matthew Gardner.
The family will receive friends one hour before the 3 p.m. service on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Burial will follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Active pallbearers will be John and Matthew Gardner, Brad Austin, Curtis Steve, David Sewell, Guy Scott, and Hugh Davis. Honorary pallbearer will be Gene Davis.
