James Issac Dempsey

James Isaac Dempsey, 85, of Hoover Alabama, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2025. Jim was born in Ensley, AL on May 8, 1939. After high school he joined the Marines and remained in the Marine Reserves for 9 years before being honorably discharged.

Jim was an entrepreneur and started B&D Office Supply in 1976 where he sold office supplies to businesses. He later focused his attention on office furnishings and nationwide hospitality design in which he finished his career. He enjoyed going to the beach, boating, golfing, and spending time at his home on Lake Guntersville.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Mildred Dempsey, sisters Cathy Crane, Jackie Cantrell, and Mickey Busler. He is survived by his wife and partner, Peggy Dye, children Mike Dempsey (Amy Dempsey) and Susan Kaplan (Mark Kaplan), grandson Jared Kaplan, brother Robert Dempsey (Anita), and many in- laws, nieces, and nephews with whom he loved and spent time.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Hwy 119 in Pelham, AL. There will be visitation from 11:00AM and the memorial service will be held at 12:00PM.

Jim wished to be cremated, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made in his name to the Brunos Cancer Center Oncology Department at UAB St Vincents.
