

KACKER, James Kenneth, Sr., of Hoover, Alabama, died on August 1, 2017. He was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Road, Hoover, Alabama, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 226 for five years, and on many parish committees. He and his kind, unselfish love will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
"Jim" was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carl and Essie Lee Day Kacker; brothers, Harry Kacker and Carl Kacker; son, David Allan Kacker; and great-grandson, Brae Walker. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Landmon Kacker; sons, James Kenneth Kacker, Jr. and John Robert Kacker (Lisa); and daughter, Carol Ann Lollar, all of Birmingham, Alabama. Survivors also include Jim's seven grandchildren, Kristen, Matthew, Mackenzie, Michael, Hannah, Annemarie and Caroline.
Jim graduated from West End High School and Birmingham Southern College. He served in the U.S. Navy from March 1952 to January 1954. His business career included employment at St. Regis Paper Company, Vulcan Materials Company, and Alabama Power Company.
Funeral mass will be Monday, August 7, 2017, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11 a.m.
